Challenges to the Implementation of Lean Practices in Higher Education, 2022, The Journal of Management and Engineering Integration, Vol. 15, No. 2 Winter 2022

Co-authored with Chris Kluse, this paper discusses the significant barriers to lean implementation in universities caused by the difference in cultures in higher education and the auto industry. Issues such as cost expectations, tangible vs intangible products, the focus of lean on core business vs 'admin', and the nature of competition are all explored.

This book explains how to use curiosity, collaboration, and evidence-based thinking in working with teams to solve workplace problems. It introduces dozens of useful tools to help you do this.

This chapter in Steve Yorkstone's Global Lean for Higher Education contrasts successfully implementing lean in a veterinary teaching hospital with the university wide attempt to implement lean.
